What to Expect After Your Vampire Facelift (PRP)
A smoother, glowing complexion is one treatment away. Find out how the growth factors found in your blood can boost collagen and elastin in the skin, leading to a smoother and plumper appearance.

A vampire facelift, as the name suggests, involves the use of blood to achieve a more youthful appearance. It’s a combination of microneedling and platelet-rich plasma therapy (PRP).

PRP is a treatment in which experts extract growth factors and platelets from a patient's blood and inject it into their problem areas.

Microneedling is a treatment that involves the use of small needles to create small, controlled wounds in the skin. It’s also known as collagen-induction therapy, as it triggers a healing response in the skin, upregulating collagen production.

By combining the two treatments, Dr. Andreea Volk, our expert at SafiraMD Medical Aesthetics and Wellness Center, stimulates collagen production and injects growth factors and platelets, which are known for their ability to repair and rejuvenate tissue.

What to expect during a vampire facelift

During the treatment, Dr. Volk draws a small amount of your blood and places the blood in a centrifuge. The centrifuge separates the platelets and the growth factors from the rest of the blood.

The result is platelet-rich plasma, a solution that’s known to encourage rejuvenation, not only in the skin but also in injured areas.

The next step is to perform the microneedling treatment. This involves the use of small needles all over your face. After your skin has been treated, Dr. Volk applies the platelet-rich plasma topically to boost the effects of microoneedling.

You may feel some slight pinching due to the needles and some inflammation and redness afterward. However, most people can return to their daily routine with no changes.

Taking care of your skin after the treatment

Although there’s no recovery time needed, your skin will feel a bit red, inflamed, and sensitive. To prevent discomfort, you’ll be encouraged to avoid all makeup and creams on your face and avoid sun exposure for a couple of days.

What results you can expect seeing from a vampire facelift

Microneedling treatments can stimulate collagen and elastin up to 400% times in the treated area. As with PRP, studies suggest that wrinkles, texture, and large pores are improved after only three sessions, spaced 15 days apart.

The combination of the two treatments is effective against the signs of aging.
