Feeling like you aren’t in control of your appearance during an acne flare-up can be physically and emotionally distressing. If you want to address your chronic or severe acne, know you are not alone. Every year, millions of people report experiencing some degree of acne.

Everyone’s skin is unique, and with all of the acne treatments available today, it can be hard to decide what treatment option is right for you. At Safira MD Medical Aesthetics & Wellness Center, our Forever Clear BBL photofacials and NeoClear laser acne treatments are in-office treatments designed to get to the core of the problem and give your skin a fresh start.

Types of Acne

Acne is a skin condition in which your pores become blocked. It most commonly affects your face and forehead, but it can occur in other places on your body, such as your shoulders, chest, or upper back. There are three categories of acne: mild, moderate, and severe. Within these categories, acne can take on many forms, including:

  • Blackheads
  • Whiteheads
  • Papules
  • Pustules
  • Fungal acne
  • Nodules
  • Cysts

All types of acne can cause discomfort and affect your appearance. If your acne is persistent, starting a treatment plan can be an important step toward having clear skin.

Types of Acne Treatments

Traditional acne treatments usually involve taking some kind of medication. These medications may be taken orally or applied topically. Instead of or in conjunction with traditional methods, our team aims to directly address our patients’ concerns and provide tangible results using the most advanced technology available. We offer two state-of-the-art acne treatments: Forever Clear BBL photofacials and NeoClear laser acne treatment by Aerolase.

Forever Clear BBL Photofacials

Forever Clear BBL photofacials are non-invasive acne treatments. They use a broadband light (BBL) therapy device to deliver specialized light energy to stimulate your skin cells and revitalize your skin.

How Does Forever Clear BBL Work?

The Forever Clear BBL photofacial is a three-step process designed to clear troublesome acne and improve your complexion. The treatment requires three types of light: blue, yellow, and infrared. First, your skin is treated with blue BBL light, which penetrates your pores to eliminate acne-causing bacteria.

Then, your skin is treated with yellow BBL light. This light reduces inflammation and related redness. Finally, your skin is treated with infrared light. The rapid, gentle pulses help heal active acne by stimulating your body’s natural healing process.

What Does Forever Clear BBL Treat?

Our Forever Clear BBL photofacial is suitable for any patient suffering from persistent acne. It works to improve acne, prevent scarring, and improve skin tone and texture. Following your treatment, you can expect relief from current breakouts and protection from future flare-ups, resulting in smoother, clearer, more radiant skin.

What Can I Expect During a Forever Clear BBL Procedure?

We will apply a clear gel to your skin to encourage light absorption. Then, we will apply the handheld device to your target areas, starting with blue BBL light, followed by yellow BBL light, and ending with infrared light. The procedure does not require any numbing cream; however, you may feel some discomfort while the light is actively hitting your skin. Some patients have compared the feeling to the snap of a rubber band.

A typical session lasts approximately 30 minutes, depending on the affected areas. This procedure doesn’t require any downtime, which means you’ll be able to resume your daily activities as soon as we finish the treatment.

Will I Need Additional Treatments?

To achieve the full benefits of our photofacial, we recommend a series of treatments. Scheduling periodic maintenance treatments will optimize your results and help sustain those results in the future.

NeoClear Laser Acne Treatment by Aerolase

NeoClear is an advanced laser treatment. This treatment is safe and comfortable for all skin types and can be used to improve all types of acne. If you have papular, comedonal, or cystic acne that hasn’t responded to traditional acne treatments, NeoClear offers a gentle, effective, long-term solution.

How Does NeoClear Laser Acne Treatment Work?

NeoClear uses a gentle laser light to aid your body’s natural healing process. The laser administers a 650-microsecond pulse to target the root causes of acne. NeoClear works to help you achieve clearer, smoother skin by:

  • Reducing inflammation
  • Destroying bacteria
  • Stimulating collagen growth

NeoClear targets your blood vessels, disrupting your body’s inflammatory process and relieving pressure on nearby tissue. The laser energy targets acne-causing bacteria to clear current breakouts and prevent new ones from developing. Additionally, the laser targets the sebaceous glands to minimize excess oil and sebum output.

What Does NeoClear Laser Acne Treatment Treat?

This laser treatment works to clear current acne breakouts and soothe redness and inflammation. The procedure also minimizes acne-related pain while smoothing old acne scars and preventing new ones from forming. The laser’s heating effect helps promote new collagen growth for smoother-looking skin.

What Can I Expect During a NeoClear Procedure?

NeoClear is a two-step laser treatment. First, we will treat all affected areas of your face with our laser light. This step helps eliminate bacteria on your skin, improve the tone and texture of your skin, and minimize the appearance of pores. Then, we will address any active acne breakouts. Each visible acne spot and pimple will be targeted with laser energy. This helps minimize the appearance of acne by reducing inflammation and advancing the clearing process.

NeoClear treatments do not require any downtime. Sessions typically last 10–15 minutes so that you will be in and out of the office in no time. Because the headpiece never comes in contact with your skin, you can expect a quick, comfortable procedure.

Will I Need Additional Treatments?

Although just one treatment is effective, a series of NeoClear treatments is recommended to see further, long-lasting improvements. A full treatment plan requires approximately five monthly treatment sessions.
