If you went through quarantine knowing you would have to delay your next injectables session, you’re certainly not alone. With everyone emerging from quarantine ready for their next Botox® or dermal fillers session, you may have some stiff competition when trying to make an injectables appointment with us. That’s why we want to encourage you to give us a call as soon as possible to schedule your next session!
Not only do we want you to be able to look forward to your next Botox or filler appointment soon, but we also want to offer some tips on things you can do — and avoid — before and after your appointment to boost your results. Here’s what we recommend:
Plan in advance
It’s ideal to plan in advance for your injectables treatment. It’s true that injectables sessions require little to no downtime, which is something we love about them, but every person responds and heals differently following their session. Better to be safe than sorry! Planning ahead involves avoiding blood thinners for the two weeks before your appointment and also planning for some social downtime a few days to a week following your session. It’s common — though not a given — that some patients experience bruising or swelling at their injection areas for a few days to a week after their treatment. If you want to get your injectables in time for an upcoming event, planning for enough downtime before that event will ensure you’re looking your best!
Avoid blood thinners
Avoiding blood thinners such as NSAIDs, alcohol, green tea, garlic, ginkgo and ginger for the two weeks leading up to your appointment can help reduce your risk of bruising in the days following your treatment. If you regularly take NSAIDs or any other blood thinning medication, you should consult your physician before making any changes to your medication.
Gently apply ice before and after treatment
Icing your treatment area before your appointment on the day of and for the next few days after your appointment can help improve any bruising or swelling you may experience. This is because the cold helps to shrink your blood vessels and minimize blood flow to the area.
No vigorous workouts or yoga poses that put your head upside-down
For the next few days to one week following your injectables session, we recommend avoiding any vigorous workouts or doing yoga poses that put your head upside-down. This is because those kinds of activities increase blood flow to your treatment areas, which can exacerbate swelling and bruising.
Last but not least, you can help your skin heal and look its radiant best by purchasing Alastin® post-injection serum from our shop! The American Medspa Association released a study that concluded this serum truly helps to reduce any side effects.
With these tips, we hope you’ll be looking forward to your next injectables session soon with the trained injectors here at SafiraMD. It’s our job and our passion to ensure that you love your results! If you have any questions, feel free to call us at (678) 235-8221 or request a consultation online.
