There’s never been a better time than now to start prioritizing your health and wellness. After all, we’re all in this together, and taking good care of ourselves is essential to protecting the health of others in these uncertain times.
When we start to prioritize our health and wellness, it makes sense that we’ll start to more seriously invest in the health of our skin. After all, it’s our largest organ! Deciding how best to take care of your skin can feel overwhelming, though, which is completely understandable. Not only is every person’s skin different, but everywhere you look, there are different kinds of advice and perspectives about what you should and should not do.
Thankfully, with skin health taking priority over ideas of skin “beauty” in recent years, there has been an increase in the desire for factual, practical advice, and great leaps have been made in the quality of skin care products available today. Not to mention the medical-grade products we provide right here at SafiraMD, paired with the expert advice of our trained staff.
We decided to streamline the process for you, so if you want to create skin care habits that help you find that healthy, glowing look, you can start with these simple tips, courtesy of a recent article in Elle:
1. SPF all day, every day.
Consistently apply SPF 30 to your face, neck and hands if you’re driving long distances. Glass does not filter UV rays, and that goes for when you’re sitting by a window at home or at the office, as well!
2. Snack with protein in mind.
When it’s time for a snack, aim for something rich in protein. Protein plays a key role in the production of collagen and elastin, so eat healthy portions of meat, fish, eggs, cheese, beans, soy and lentils.
3. SPF on your lips, too.
Apply an SPF lip balm regularly! We often don’t consider our lips when we think about sun exposure, but our lips don’t have the same amount of melanin as the rest of our skin, so there is less natural protection from environmental elements.
4. Sulfate-free for sensitive skin.
If you have sensitive skin, it could help a great deal for you to avoid body washes and face cleansers that contain sulfates. Sulfates can strip too much of your skin’s sebum away, leaving you feeling dry, flaky and even itchy. Check your labels and look for ones that specify “sulfate-free.”
5. Perk up your eyes with peptides.
Check your labels for peptides! If you’re struggling to conceal stubborn under-eye circles, you can reduce pigmentation and increase skin elasticity by using products that contain peptides. A great place to start is with the medical-grade products, including Alastin®, which is available here at SafiraMD. Alastin products are formulated with TriHex Technology® to clear away cellular debris and boost new collagen growth for healthier, younger-looking skin.
